While it is easy to view our feet as simply the physical foundation that carries us through the day, modern research reveals a far more intricate connection between how we walk and how our brain functions. Many people assume that changes in mobility, balance, and gait are just unavoidable consequences of getting older. However, the way our feet interact with the ground, the footwear we choose, and the habits we form while walking directly influence not only our physical stability and fall risk, but also our cognitive health and overall trajectory of healthy aging.
In this session, Dr. Mino Deiana will uncover the surprising link between lower-limb mechanics and neurological health. Drawing on the latest insights into movement science and cognitive vitality, Dr. Mino will explore how sensory feedback from our feet shapes brain function, spatial awareness, and motor control. Rather than viewing mobility and brain health as separate domains, this lecture offers a unified approach to preserving independence, improving balance, and protecting cognitive sharpness as we age.
Crucially, the session will bridge theory and practical application. You will learn how simple, targeted adjustments to your footwear choices, daily walking habits, and balance training can actively support healthy brain aging and significantly reduce the risk of debilitating falls. Whether you join us in person or online, you will leave with an evidence-based perspective on how caring for your feet is one of the most powerful steps you can take toward lifelong vitality.
